Located in the North Side lakefront neighborhood of Lake View, this district is a visually distinctive collection of single-family houses and apartment buildings that exemplifies the historic development of this neighborhood between its annexation to Chicago in 1889 and the Great Depression years of the 1930s. Within the district can be found rugged-looking, Richardsonian Romanesque-style row houses, small-scale corner and courtyard apartment buildings from the years just before and after World War I, and a variety of tall apartment buildings and apartment hotels.
