Corner Detail Facade Detail Sheathed in gleaming, highly-ornamental white terra cotta, the former Swedish American State Bank is a visually-outstanding building on this vibrant commercial section of Clark Street. The bank was founded to serve the large Swedish population that settled in Edgewater's southwestern edge around Clark Street, between Foster and Bryn Mawr Avenues, which became known as "Andersonville." The free and unusual interpretation of the Classical Revival style of architecture is characteristic of the architectural firm of Ottenheimer, Stern and Reichert. The front elevation features a large keystone decorated with a stylized eagle and a cartouche surrounded by cornucopia with fruit.
