Terra Cotta Ornament One of the city's few surviving works by master Prairie School architect George Grant Elmslie. The building's extensive terra cotta detailing is significant as an outstanding example of Elmslie's distinctive ornamental style. The store represents a unique effort by a public utility to create an architectural design that would enhance the neighborhood where it was located. This modest building, which is now owned by a private individual, remains an attractive part of the Commercial Avenue streetscape.
