Address: 2703 W. Logan Blvd. Year Built:
1907
Architect:
George W. Maher
Date Designated a Chicago Landmark:
December 1, 1993
Like his contemporary Frank Lloyd Wright, Maher attempted to redefine American residential architecture. This building's traditional boxlike form is updated by a broad hipped roof and stark window and door openings. John Rath, who commissioned the house, owned one of the largest barrel-making companies in the United States.
